KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Police say that the man told them he was trying to “get enough courage to commit suicide.” The 26-year-old Kalamazoo man is now in jail. It all started on Tuesday when the man went to the top of the Radisson parking ramp on 100 North Rose Street because he was depressed. Officers say that he downed 20 beers. The man then drove out of the parking structure, hitting eight parked cars and causing about $75,000 in damage to the vehicles according to police. He then climbed on top of a car and defecated on it. Police showed up to arrest the man around 3:00 on suspicion of drunk driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.17 or higher. Police have identified the man as Lance Laponsie. Laponsie has been arraigned on two counts, driving while intoxicated and operating a vehicle under Michigan’s ‘super drunk’ law.
